JAKARTA In January, Meta revealed that it would cut thousands of employees. In the company's recent internal memos, Meta began firing its employees.

According to Meta Human Resources Chief Janelle Gale, citing Reuters, a notification of Termination of Work (PHK) has been sent to affected employees. The notice was made on Monday, February 10 at 5 am local time.

It is not known which companies from which countries are affected. However, it is certain that employees in Germany, France, Italy, and the Netherlands will be excluded from these layoffs. This happens because of local state regulations that need to be obeyed.

Gale also explained that dozens of countries in Europe, Asia and Africa will receive layoffs from February 11 to February 18. Unlike the layoffs that usually occur in the company, Meta decided to keep its office open.

Meta had said that it would cut 5 percent of its total employees. In September last year, the number of workers in Meta reached 72,000 workers. Based on this data, employees who were laid off may reach 3,600 people.

Employees affected by layoffs are employees with the lowest performance. To improve the company's performance standards, Meta felt that layoffs were needed. After cutting employees, Meta also opened new vacancies for several positions.

In a separate internal memo, it was revealed that Meta was opening up positions for machine learning technicians and other technical roles that were important to Meta's business. VP of Engineering for Monetization, Peng Fan, in his memo, called on staff to speed up the employee recruitment process at that position.
