JAKARTA The controversial Instagram display is now officially implemented in all countries, including Indonesia. Instead of looking at the content thumbnail in the form of a grid or box, now it looks like a rectangular.

The thumbnail change plan has been revealed since last year, even Instagram has been testing it in August. Even though the feedback obtained is not so good, Instagram continues to implement this change to make it easier to cut video formats.

After the changes were released on January 18, Instagram received many negative comments. Responding to this complaint, Instagram Head Adam Mosseri explained that they must sacrifice the thumbnail grid because the majority of content is now in vertical format.

"I know some of you really like box shape. And box photos are an Instagram legacy. But right now, most of them are uploaded, both photos and videos, are vertically oriented. It's a shame if you cut them excessively," Mosseri said some time ago via Instagram Story.

Although the public's reaction is not very good, Mosseri believes that this complaint is only temporary. According to the Instagram official, the public is not used to the new look so this change is considered 'separating' for most users.

"I think people, in the long term, would be happy because more photos and videos of them really look as they should be on the profile, not overcut," Mosseri added.

Until now, every Mosseri post is still filled with negative comments. Many don't like the appearance of the latest content on the profile page, especially since posts with aesthetic elements now look messy.

However, Instagram has prepared assistance for accounts that feel the posts are falling apart. They will provide tools to change the content preview so that account owners can rearrange the messy thumbnails.
