Russia Will Make Its Own Consoles, Although Not As Advanced As Xbox And PS5

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Information Policy Committee, Anton Gorelkin, revealed that Russia is gradually starting to develop its own local game console.

The project was initiated by the Ministry of Industry and Trade on the direct instructions of President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, who is no longer a secret that Russia has slowly abandoned Western technology.

Based on its official statement via a Telegram channel discovered by TechSpot, Gorelkin said that the game console was made with an Elbrus processor, as well as using local operating systems such as Aurora or Alt Linux.

"The operating system will also be domestically made, but the Ministry of Industry and Trade has not yet chosen between Aurora or Alt Linux," wrote Gorelkin.

According to the work meeting document discussing the development of this console, the Skolkovo Foundation has been officially appointed as the company that will design the device's competitive business, concept, and excellence models.

"I hope my colleagues will take this task seriously and produce something really breakthrough," he added.

Gorellkin also mentioned that Elbrus processors are not comparable to what Intel, AMD and Arm currently produce and will not reach the PS5 or Xbox power level.

While it seems that its chipset will be weaker than other well-known consoles, Gorelkin said that the console is claimed to be capable of playing their own local video game products.
