OnePlus 13 Officially Presents With Ultrasonic Finger Sidik Sensors, 4D Haptics, And Air Resilience IP69

JAKARTA - Ahead of the official launch on October 31, OnePlus has confirmed a number of new features on OnePlus 13 via uploads on Weibo. One of the major improvements is the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, which replaces the optical sensor on OnePlus 12.

This new sensor can unlock the phone by just one touch, and it is safer than the previous version. This sensor is also able to recognize wet or oily fingerprints, providing a better user experience.

OnePlus also revealed an upgrade to its haptic system, called 4D' haptics. The system has the largest motor among Android devices, with more than 700 levels of customization for a deeper vibrational experience. This feature is designed specifically for gamers who want to feel any haptic effect in the game.

In addition, OnePlus 13 comes with IP69 water and dust resistance certification, which offers higher protection than the commonly found IP68. With an IP69 rating, OnePlus 13 is more resistant to extreme conditions.

Ultrasonic Finger Sidik

In the midst of the launch of premium smartphones, many high-end devices are now equipped with ultrasonic fingerprint sensors. This technology, as found in the Galaxy S24, Vivo X200 Pro, and iQOO Neo 9S Pro+ series, is considered superior to the commonly used optical fingerprint sensor. Not only that, similar technologies will also be present in Xiaomi 15 series, OnePlus 13, and iQOO 13 which will be released soon.

The main difference between an ultrasonic and optical fingerprint sensor lies in the workings and accuracy of the imaging. Optical sensors use bright light to capture fingerprint images in 2D form, while ultrasonic sensors produce more detailed 3D images by utilizing sound waves.

This technology allows for a more precise fingerprint recognition, even in wet or oily finger conditions, which are often an obstacle to optical sensors.

Qualcomm and Goodix Solution are the two main providers of ultrasonic sensors used by many smartphone brands. This ultrasonic technology offers an extra layer of security and is an option for users who want better data protection on their devices.
