Strengthen Security, Google Chrome Will Present Identity Check Features

JAKARTA Theft Detection is a leading feature on Android 15 that can maintain the security and privacy of its users. To bring high-level security, Google will add an Identity Check feature.

This tool is an additional layer of security that requires biometric authentication so that access to its devices can be tightened. Reportedly, this feature will be available in various important settings and applications, one of which is Google Chrome.

Based on Android Authority findings, Identity Check will prevent the spread of sensitive information when foreigners use devices illegally. If this feature is enabled, all sensitive settings or apps will not be accessible as usual.

For example, several important applications previously required code, PIN, pattern, or password to access the main page. However, once Identity Check is enabled, the app will request biometric authentication such as fingerprints or faces.

If you can't access biometric authentication, the app won't open. That way, thieves or fraudsters who take phones with this system won't be able to access sensitive information easily.

It is not known with certainty what applications or settings will get this feature. However, based on the findings of the Leopeva64 account on platform X last September, it was revealed that Google would add new features to Chrome.

In development records for Chrome, it is written that, "this feature makes biometric reauthentication mandatory before password charging or before other protected measures or should be protected by biometric checks."

If Identity Check is added to Chrome, users may need to enter biometric authentication when making payments, setting synchronization, and more. This feature will be available at the end of the year through the release of Android 15 QPR1.
