Qualcomm Releases Snapdragon 8 Elite, World's Fastest Mobile Chipset

JAKARTA Qualcomm Technologies officially launched the Snapdragon 8 Elite for mobile devices at the Snapdragon Summit event. This new chipset is claimed to be the world's fastest and most powerful device processor.

Snapdragon 8 Elite uses a custom-designed second-generation Qualcomm Oryon CPU, Qualcomm Andreno GPU, and Qualcomm Hexagon NPU. Thanks to these three technologies, this chipset can improve app performance.

Not only that, this combination of CPUs, NPUs, and GPUs can bring multi-modal Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications, spur the best camera capabilities, make web browsing very fast, provide the best gaming experiences, and others.

Chris Patrick, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Mobile Mobiles Qualcomm Technologies, said that Snapdragon 8 Elite is the first mobile chipset to get an Oryon CPU. Previously, this CPU was added to the PC chipset.

"Today, our second-generation Qualcomm Oryon CPU comes on our flagship Cellular Platform this is a big leap forward and we hope consumers will be pleased with the new experience possible by our CPU technology," Patrick said.

Meanwhile, the ability of multi-modal generative AI on this chipset can also revolutionize the cellular experience. This AI is able to understand speech, context, and images. That way, productivity and creativity can be supported while prioritizing user privacy.

Qualcomm has revealed several mobile phone manufacturers that will use this new chipset. The manufacturers that will release phones with the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset are ASUS, Honor, iQOO, OnePlus, OPPO, realme, Samsung, Vivo, Xiaomi, and more.
