IBM (International Business Machines Corp) has just released the latest version of the artificial intelligence (AI) model specifically designed for business needs on Monday, October 21. The latest model, called the "Granite 3.0", will be available open-sourced, following in the footsteps of the previous version in IBM's Granite model family.

This approach is different from competitors like Microsoft, which charges customers for accessing their AI models.

While IBM offers a paid device called Watsonx that helps run AI models in data centers after adjusting to business needs.

Some variants of this latest Granite model can already be used commercially through the Watsonx platform starting today. The models will also be available on Nvidia's suite of software tools, enabling businesses to integrate AI models efficiently.

"The latest Granite Model is trained using the Nvidia H100 graphics processor unit (GPU), which is the flagship chip in today's AI technology," said Dario Gil, IBM's research director. With this launch, IBM hopes to expand the adoption of generative AI technology in various companies.
