JAKARTA - Google is rolling out an update for NotebookLM, its AI-based research and writing assistant, through two new features that will make it easier for users to do their activities.

Previously, Google had introduced the Audio Overviews feature to users in experimental form. As millions of people have tried it, Google is now releasing the feature in general with a series of other upgrades.

"We are very pleased with the positive response to Audio Overviews so far, and today we are introducing two new features," Google wrote in its announcement.

Conversation guides: With this feature, you can give instructions before generating "Deep Dive" Audio Overview. For example, you can focus on certain topics or adjust the level of expertise according to your audience.

Listen to the background: This feature allows you to listen to the audio summary (conclusion of content, such as articles or podcasts) simultaneously as they perform other activities within the NotebookLM application.

So, you don't have to quit your other job or research just to hear the summary.

In addition, Google also announced the NotebookLM Business, a upcoming version that will be offered through Google Workspace with improved features for businesses, universities, and organizations.

Starting today, you can sign up for the NotebookLM Business pilot program to gain initial access to new product features, training, and email support.

Meanwhile, you can continue to use the free version of NotebookLM, and Google will share more about the general availability and price of NotebookLM Business later this year.
