JAKARTA YouTube is starting to show a new label on the video playback page to show the type of device the creator uses in recording videos. This label is displayed on the Transcript menu.
Based on The Verge report, this label will display the caption 'Taken with camera' if the creator does use the camera. This label can be seen on video content belonging to the YouTube channel Trupic which was uploaded on Tuesday, October 15.
Channel owners explained that they were the first authentic videos to use Content Coalition for Content Protection and Authentication (C2PA) Credentials on YouTube. This means that this label is made using C2PA standards.
This standard is used to detect the authenticity of uploaded videos. If the creator does not use a recording device and a tool that supports metadata, C2PA cannot detect videos and YouTube cannot label.

Meanwhile, a Google spokesperson told The Verge that creators don't need to edit videos to get this label. They just need to follow a process that supports C2PA and avoid edits that can break the origin of the video.
Editing that makes videos incompatible with C2PA standards, both version 2.1 and above, can also remove labels. With some of these provisions, the record device label will not appear in all YouTube videos.
