10 Years Of Jokowi, Indonesia's Digital Talents Continue To Grow And Develop

YOGYAKARTA - Throughout the 10 years of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi)'s leadership, digital talent in Indonesia grew significantly and is now at the stage ready to be honed into excellent talent.

"So Pak Jokowi's performance in 10 years continues to creep, increase. In the future, he can improve his quality through certification and empowerment," said Head of the Human Resources Development Agency of the Ministry of Communication and Information (BPSDM Kemenkominfo) Hary Budiarto as reported by ANTARA.

In the era of President Jokowi's leadership, Hary revealed that the development of digital talent recorded a significant increase starting in 2018.

Initially, he said, the government through the Ministry of Communication and Informatics trained 10,000 digital talents who had competency standards to compete in the industry.

Slowly but surely, the number of digital talents increased until the following years. The peak is in 2022 with 250,000 digital talents trained only in that year with various competencies regarding digitalization and global standard technology.

From 2018 to 2024, the Ministry of Communication and Informatics noted that in total more than 500 thousand Indonesians have been trained to become digital talents.

This amount, he said, has not been added to digital talents printed by formal educational institutions. If added up, the total could reach millions of people.

However, he hopes that in the next period of government, namely in the era of President-elect Prabowo Subianto, programs will be increased in fostering digital talent.

The next government must improve the quality of existing digital talents. Thus, optimal talent will be created for Indonesia.

"Hopefully the upcoming government will keep the pace of the digitalization program increasing, because the strategies to develop digital talent have been controlled during the Jokowi government," he said.
