Google Automated Temperature Checking Features For Pixel Pro Users

JAKARTA - Google continues to develop innovative features on Pixel 8 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro phones by integrating temperature sensors on the back of the phone. This sensor allows users to measure the temperature of a person's object or even body temperature. Now, Google is reportedly working to make the temperature checking process more automatic.

Currently, the Pixel Thermometer app requires users to choose the type of material the temperature will measure, such as food, metal, or glass, before taking measurements. While this is not a hassle, this additional step makes it a little slower than a special thermometer.

However, a report from the Android Authority reveals that Google is developing an automated material detection feature in the Pixel Thermometer app version of 1,6762763. The code in this application shows the possibility that the Pixel Pro will be able to automatically recognize objects whose temperature is being measured, eliminating the need to select materials manually.

However, Google doesn't seem to be completely deleting manual options. The code found shows that the app will offer two options, namely automatic and manual detection. This gives users the flexibility to keep choosing on their own if automatic detection is not perfect, or if certain materials require more accurate selection.

In addition, the report states that Google will use the "TFLite" (TensorFlow Lite) model, a lightweight machine learning model capable of carrying out image recognition tasks on devices. Most likely, the app will use this model along with information from the camera viewfinder to recognize the measured object.

This feature has not been officially launched, and the Android Authority trying to activate the feature has not been successful. However, hints in the code show that this feature will be coming soon. Once released, the automatic detection option will be integrated into the material selection screen in the Pixel Thermometer application.
