Meeting With The Minister Of Communication And Information, The US Government Is Committed To Promoting Indonesia's Digitalization

JAKARTA - Meeting with the Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie Setiadi, the United States government affirms its commitment to helping Indonesia in advancing digitalization.

The US Ambassador to Indonesia Kamala Shirin Lakhdhir said directly at the Ministry of Communication and Information office on Thursday, September 26, this support was in particular in increasing investment in the digital sector.

Minister Budi Arie explained that Indonesia has great potential for digital economy, namely 800 billion US dollars or around Rp. 12,096.8 trillion. Even in 2030, Indonesia's Digital Economy value reached 360 billion US dollars.

"Economic digitization is Indonesia's tools to become a developed country. So, Indonesia's 2045 gold dream can be realized," Budi said at the meeting.

In fact, if Indonesia is able to optimally develop the Artificial Intelligence (AI) business, Budi said that the economic potential of this technology alone is projected to reach 366 billion by 2030.

A number of things discussed by the US Ambassador with the Minister of Communication and Information include investments in data centers, submarine cables, satellites, and other telecommunications infrastructure.

Cooperation between the two parties is important considering that currently Indonesia has a great need to increase the reach and quality of internet services.

In addition, the meeting also discussed the importance of investment in the field of human resource development.

As a country that is accelerating digital transformation, Indonesia certainly needs talent with qualified skills in the field of technology.

"I ask that today's meeting can be followed up concretely. I am ready to hold a next meeting with the Ambassador and with companies from the United States to be able to increase investment in the digital sector," concluded Budi.
