JAKARTA Meta will update its AI Info label policy on Facebook and Instagram. Starting next week, Meta will remove this label from edited content using Artificial Intelligence devices (AI).

Although the label is not visible, this feature doesn't really disappear. Meta only hides its features so users don't get the wrong idea about the content they see. Many users think the AI Info label only shows AI-made content.

"The label (now) reflects more the extent AI is used in content," Meta said through its official website. "Our goal is to always help people know when they see content created with AI."

The Info AI label is now differentiated for content created by AI or edited content using an AI tool. For content that AI is sure to produce, Meta will still display the label under the user account name.

Meanwhile, for editing content using an AI-based tool, Meta will move its label into the settings. To view the label, the user must click the three-dot icon on the top right side of the post and search for the AI Info menu.

If the content uploaded on Instagram or Facebook is modified by AI, Meta will explain why the photo got the AI Info label. The uploader may use a tool that can change photos for the better thanks to AI support.

"This is based on the signal added by the tool used to change content. This signal can show a wide range of AI usage, from photo retouching to creating completely new content," Meta wrote.
