Apple Gives IOS 17 Permanent User Options With Security Patch, When IOS 18 Releases

JAKARTA - Apple has confirmed that it will release iOS 18 on September 16, 2024. Although this update brings a variety of new features, some users may be reluctant to install it immediately because they are worried about bugs or compatibility issues with important applications. In response to this, Apple will give users the option to keep using iOS 17 and keep the security patch.

Along with the release of iOS 18.0 Release Candidate (RC), Apple also launched iOS 17.7 RC for public beta developers and testers. This update does not add new features, but focuses on bug fixes and security patches for iOS 17. The plan, iOS 17.7 will be released alongside iOS 18 next week.

Users will see two update options in the iPhone and iPad Settings apps. They can choose to keep using iOS 17 with the latest security updates or upgrade to iOS 18 which comes with new features.

This isn't the first time Apple has provided a similar option; last year, Apple also provided a security patch for iOS 16 after iOS 17 was released, although in the end the update is only available for devices that don't support iOS 17.

The decision to stick with iOS 17 is very useful for those who are worried about bugs or apps that are not yet compatible with iOS 18. Apart from iOS 18, Apple will also release iPadOS 18, watchOS 11, tvOS 18,visionOS 2, and macOS Sequoia next week.
