JAKARTA - An inspiring story in El Salvador, a taxi driver named Napoleon Osorio (39) succeeded in changing his life through Bitcoin adoption Crypto assets. Formerly unemployed, Osorio now has a car rental company and taxis that accept payments in the form of Bitcoin (BTC). Osorio's life transformation is a clear proof of how Bitcoin can empower individuals in the first country to legalize BTC as a legal tender.

According to a report from AFP, Osorio took advantage of a Bitcoin price hike to build a business called BitDriver, a taxi company that accepts BTC as a means of payment. Within three years, he managed to hire 21 drivers and bought four rental vehicles from BTC price increases. Osorio also stated that his business income has helped finance his children's education.

More than just a business, Osorio is now also an evangelist of Bitcoin, inviting the public to take advantage of this cryptocurrency. BitDriver claims to be the first taxi company in El Salvador to accept payments with BTC. Osorio's inspiration to accept BTC comes from John Dennehy, founder of NGO Mi Primar Bitcoin, who promotes education about Bitcoin in El Salvador.

Although Osorio's success story inspires, the adoption of Bitcoin in El Salvador still raises debate. According to the University's Director of the Institute of Public Opinion, Laura Andrade, the majority of Salvadorans have not fully accepted BTC. A study shows that 88% of El Salvadorans have never used Bitcoin, although the government has given citizens the option to take advantage of this crypto.

However, El Salvador's President, Nayib Bukele, remains optimistic about his country's big move in adopting BTC. He stated that those who chose to use Bitcoin had benefited from the increase in digital currency prices. Currently, the government of El Salvador is reportedly storing around 400 million US Dollars (Rp6.1 trillion) BTC in cold wallets.

Osorio's success story provides an optimistic picture of Bitcoin's potential as a tool for economic empowerment in El Salvador. Despite the limited adoption of Bitcoin, crypto supporters such as Osorio continue to strive to spread awareness and education about the profits of this digital asset. With the support of governments and NGOs such as Mi Primar Bitcoin, the big step in the adoption of Bitcoin in El Salvador is still ongoing.
