Kominfo Patrol And Hunt For Terrorist Content After The Bomb Blasts In Makassar

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology has started patrolling and hunting down any terrorist activity on social media. Following the suicide bombing at the Cathedral Church, Makassar.

"We again appeal to the public not to disseminate such content and together to counteract radicalism-terrorism both in the physical and digital space," said Kominfo spokesman, Dedy Permadi, in a press statement, Monday.

Since the bomb explosion in Makassar on Sunday, March 28, Kominfo has been tracing unpublished cash related to the incident, such as posts containing elements of violence, body parts and injuries suffered by victims.

Kominfo data as of Monday morning, the content which is not suitable for publication is spread on various social media platforms, namely Facebook with 34 content, Twitter with 59 content and Instagram with 21 content.

Kominfo also found 20 content inappropriate uploads on YouTube. The total content found by Kominfo reached 134 pieces.

"All of the content has been submitted by Kominfo to each platform for termination of access or blocking," said Dedy.

So far, the Police have stated that the perpetrators of the suicide bombers at the gate of the Makassar City Cathedral, South Sulawesi, were a married couple. The police identified the perpetrators as L, male, and YSF, female, who worked as private employees.

The perpetrator was part of Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD), which had acted in Jolo, Philippines. Densus 88 Anti-Terror today ransacked the boarding house where the perpetrator lived in Makassar City and the house of the perpetrator's parents, which is only about 50 meters away.

As previously reported, a suicide bomb explosion occurred at the entrance to the Cathedral Church, Makassar City on Sunday, March 28 at around 10:20 WITA. As a result of the explosion, the two perpetrators died on the spot and dozens of people were injured, both from the general public and church security officers.
