JAKARTA - Currently, cyber threats that are increasingly complex are rife in the country, thereby increasing the need for experts who have technical skills at a higher level in order to provide optimal protection.

However, this increasing need has not been balanced with the availability of sufficient talents in number and quality. This is a challenge in an effort to maintain cybersecurity.

Seeing this urgency, leading cybersecurity service providers such as Spentera have just held a Hacktrace Independence Day Competition 2024 to capture talented talents while improving their technical capabilities in the field of cybersecurity.

"This competition is in line with Spentara's mission to improve cyber security and defense," said Royke Tobing, Director of PT Spentera in a statement received on Friday, August 23.

Designed with realistic attack and defense simulations using an integrated platform, the Hacktrace Independence Day Competition 2024 is the first platform in Indonesia that can be used to simulate cyber and forensic attacks without endangering existing IT Infrastructure assets in Indonesia.

The 2024 Hacktrace Independence Day Competition has been held three times since 2022. According to Royke, the theme of this year's competition is more challenging because participants are faced with a series of cybersecurity challenges that include a combination of roles as a blue team.

From August 5 to 22, 2024, the 2024 Hacktrace Independence Day Competition managed to attract 278 participants, including professionals, students, and individuals who have interests and expertise in cybersecurity, and are divided into 196 teams.

After going through various stages and challenges and successfully completing the task quickly and accurately, Skill Issue managed to become first place, followed by Mentorzzz in second place, and the third place winner was won by Student Edwin Permana.

Finally, Royke also added that this competition also affirms Spentera's commitment that investment in talent development is the key to overcome cyber threats in the future.
