JAKARTA - This year iOS 18 comes with updates for many Apple-Based applications, including Safari which now has new features that are useful for making it easier to get information from websites. Here are some highlights of the latest features in Safari.
Highlights
Highlights detect relevant information on the webpage you visit and display so you can find important details without having to browse across the entire page. When Highlight is available on the webpage, you will see a small purple glow above the tool icon in the browser bar, as well as quick glimpses of the available Highlight data. If you tap on the icon with the glow, Safari will show key information such as location, operating hours, and directions.
The information displayed in Highlights depends on the website you visit. For stores, hotels, and other places you want to visit, Safari will provide direction. For other websites, you may see links to learn more about people, music, movies, and TV shows.
Currently, Highlights is available in US English, and because iOS 18 is still in beta, this feature is not available on all websites. Highlights can be disabled by opening the Safari section in the Settings app and turning it off.
Reader Mode (Reader Mode)
Safari updated Reader Mode to provide a table of contents for long articles as well as a quick summary of what's on the page. This new feature in Reader Mode gives users how to get to a specific section of the article as well as an overview of the content of the article to decide whether it's worth continuing reading.
New options in Reader Mode are available in English (Australia), English (Canada), English (Ireland), English (New Zealand), English (South Africa), English (English), and English (US).

Design Changes
Apple updated the design of the Safari tool which can be accessed via the URL bar. The tool icon is now in the form of a box with two lines, and tapping it will open the full overlay window at the bottom of the display.
Not all tools are displayed all at once, with Apple prioritizing tools that users might want the most, such as translate, Reader Mode, Privacy Protection, and font size. ellipticity at the bottom of the interface will display the rest of the Safari settings such as Showing IP Addresses, Request Desktop Site, and Hide Toolbar.
Apple has also changed the design of the tab management page, with an integrated device bar for separate parts and tab groups.
New Fast Access Option
Some of the features previously hidden in the Share Sheet are now more accessible via the Safari toolbar. New options include:
The Page menu can be adjusted so you can add a tool that is often used to your favorite list for faster access. All these options are also available through Sharing Sheets.
Password
With the new Password application, Safari login, password, and automatic access key are charged if you save your information in this application. The Password App has the same function as the Password section in the Settings app, but now it's an independent app for easier access.
Safari can automatically save login and password information to the Password app, and everything is synced between devices. Passwords can even be accessed on Windows PCs.
Lock App
Apps like Safari can be locked and hidden, requiring Face ID or Touch ID authentication to access them. Lock apps give a further layer of protection than private browsing features introduced earlier, as all Safari browsers can be locked.
To open a locked app, you need to authentication, so someone with an unlocked phone can still not see your browser if you lock Safari. Hiding the app will lock and remove it from Home Screen, save it in a Hidden application folder in the App's library.
