JAKARTA TikTok, a video platform from ByteDance, launched a new feature that can improve user experience. This new feature can display certain geolocations based on location and narrowed categories. Reporting from The Verge, users can choose certain categories when displaying videos in various locations such as Boston, New York, and Texas. Various categories that can be selected are hotels, food and beverages, shopping, to parks. This series of categories is placed at the bottom of the location caption. When switching to another category, TikTok will display relevant videos. If users are interested in visiting its place, they can click the Explore More Places menu. The menu in the form of the button will direct the user to an integrated map service like Apple Maps. Users will see various businesses relevant to the categories and locations they previously viewed in the TikTok application.

Apple Maps will show more detailed addresses from places or stores that are being searched at certain locations. Users can see the price of the product being sold, the video that can be directly clicked on, and how many video tags for that location. This is an interesting feature to take full advantage of TikTok. Users no longer need to scroll the screen non-stop to get recommendations for an interesting place. They only need to narrow down the results of video searches on TikTok. TikTok has not provided any comment on the presence of this feature. It is not yet known when this feature will be launched and whether its features are still in the testing process. Apparently, TikTok will prioritize feature launches in the US over other countries.
