JAKARTA - Google announced it is developing several changes to ChromeOS, an operating system that supports Chromebook devices, with the same technology as Android systems.

This update is intended to provide a more secure, fast, and feature-rich Chromebook experience for millions of students and teachers, families, gamers, and businesses around the world.

However, the main reason Google uses the Android system to Chromebook is to enable more AI features in it.

"ChromeOS will soon be developed in most Android stacks to bring Google's AI, innovation, and features faster to users," wrote Prajakta Gudadhe, Senior Director, Engineering, ChromeOS & Alexander Kuscher, Senior Director, Product Management, ChromeOS in a blog post.

With the latest announcement of new features supported by Google AI and Gemini, Google will make Chromebooks a more sophisticated device to help with its users' daily tasks.

Google will use some of the Android system stacks, such as the Android Linux kernel and Android framework, as part of the framework for ChromeOS development.

Previously, Android and ChromeOS already had a strong collaboration history through the unification of Bluetooth devices from ChromeOS 122 to the latest.

"Introducing a series of Android-based technologies to ChromeOS will allow us to accelerate the rate of AI innovation in ChromeOS cores, simplify engineering efforts, and help devices such as cell phones and accessories work better with Chromebooks," he explained.

At the same time, Google will continue to provide unmatched security, a consistent display and feel, as well as extensive management capabilities preferred by ChromeOS users, companies, and schools.

This development is starting now. However, Google will not release it to consumers in the near future. Let's wait for another update.
