JAKARTA - Microsoft and LinkedIn have just released Indonesian data from the 2024 Work Trend Index global report regarding the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the world of work.

A report entitled AI at work is here. Now comes the hard part, which was produced through a survey of 31,000 people in 31 countries including Indonesia revealed that 69 percent of company leaders in Indonesia stated they would not recruit someone without AI skills.

As many as 76 percent of them even tend to recruit candidates with fewer but reliable work experience using AI, compared to experienced candidates without AI capabilities.

"Currently, we are in an era of AI transformation that allows us to be creative and innovate much faster," said Dharma Simorangkir, President Director of Microsoft Indonesia quoted Wednesday, June 12.

Given the importance of AI skills, Microsoft and LinkedIn found a 142-fold increase in LinkedIn membership which adds AI skills such as Copilot and ChatGPT to their profiles.

In fact, there is also a 160 percent increase in non-technical professionals who use LinkedIn Learning courses to build their AI skills.

The mention of AI in uploading job opportunities on LinkedIn also encourages an increase in job applications by 17 percent.

From here, Microsoft concluded that: companies empowering employees with AI tools and training will attract the best talent, while professionals who improve their skills will be superior to those who still haven't done so.
