Unprofitable, Tumblr Removes Tipping Features From Its Platform

JAKARTA - Effective from June 1, the leading blogging platform, Tumblr has officially stopped the Tipping feature on its platform.

The Tipping feature was introduced for the first time in February 2022. This feature allows users to tip their favorite content creators on the Tumblr platform.

The deletion of this feature is due to, for more than two years of launch, the company has not seen the expected gains and uses.

"So, to focus on things that really make Tumblr Tumblr for most users, we closed Tipping on June 1," the company said in its announcement.

Thus, the small Tip icon in Tumblr will automatically disappear from a blog or post with activated features, and you can no longer tip creators or receive Tips.

However, any money you receive from the Tipping feature will be paid to the account you registered via Stripe no later than June 15.

"While this will have an impact on a small part of you, we know that you who did the Tip do it with great admiration for your Tumblr colleagues, and we apologize for having to take this from you," the company continued.

The company also hopes that in the future they can find other ways to bring new innovations for users to show affection and gratitude to other users.
