JAKARTA - Apple is reportedly in the final stages of contract negotiations with OpenAI to use the ChatGPT feature on the iPhone. This was revealed by a source familiar with the matter.

If this plan is realized, the ChatGPT feature will be implemented in Apple's latest software update, iOS 18, according to a Bloomberg report on May 11. Apple is also in talks with Google's parent company on the potential integration of Gemini chatbots. However, it is stated that these talks are not as advanced as Apple and OpenAI negotiations.

It is not yet clear at this stage whether users will have the option to disable these features on their devices as part of a new operating system or not. Just a year ago, rumors circulated that Apple had restricted the company's use of ChatGPT due to concerns about compromise of sensitive data.

However, recently reports have emerged indicating that Apple is stepping up efforts to form its own artificial intelligence division (AI).

On April 30, Apple recruited experts from Google to build its own team of AI experts and machine learning.

In addition to assembling AI experts' teams, Apple also recently acquired two local AI startups in Zurich, Switzerland, which directed it to build a "secret" laboratory in the area called the "Vision Lab."
