Microsoft Prepares Opportunities For AI Skill Development For 2.5 Million People In Southeast Asia

JAKARTA - After the announcement of its investment in Indonesia amounting to US$1.7 billion (Rp27.6 trillion), Microsoft also announced its commitment to empowering 2.5 million people in ASEAN with AI skills until 2025.

This training initiative will be implemented in collaboration with governments, companies, non-profit organizations, as well as communities in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.

"Investing in AI skills is the same as investing in a future where economic growth is inclusive, giving everyone the opportunity to contribute and benefit," said Andrea Della Mattea, President of Microsoft ASEAN at the Microsoft Build: AI Day event in Jakarta on Tuesday, April 30.

Because according to Della, with the presence of powerful talents proficient in disruptive technology, Southeast Asia will be in the right position to compete in global technology.

Microsoft's commitment is also in line with ASEAN Digital Masterplan 2025 in building AI-achieving talents in the ASEAN region. This commitment is also part of the company's goal of empowering individuals, organizations, and communities in Southeast Asian countries in utilizing AI potential to encourage innovation and economic growth.
