JAKARTA The US government was asked to form an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Safety and Security Council at the end of last year. Reportedly, three leaders of major technology companies have just joined the council.
Quoting from the Wall Street Journal, the three technology leaders are OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Microsoft Head Satya Nadella, and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai. It is not known when these three leaders were part of the AI supervisory board.
Altman, Nadella, and Pichai will work closely with other technology leaders who are already part of the AI board. The technology leaders are NVIDIA President Jensen Huang, Northrop Grumman CEO Kathy Pribet, Delta Air Lines CEO Ed Bastian, and many more.
As part of the AI Council, these technology leaders will cooperate with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). They will advise on how to safely implement AI into state-owned infrastructure.

In addition, AI councils will also provide recommendations on how to protect the system from the threat of technology. These recommendations will be useful for operators of the electricity network, providers of transportation services, and manufacturing factories.
Through its official website, DHS briefly explained that the AI Safety and Safety Advisory Board (AISSB) would provide various information regarding responses to incidents of AI use, including risk mitigation.
"AISSB will utilize AI expertise and infrastructure to assess the risks that arise to critical infrastructure due to AI and provide advice and recommendations for mitigating these risks," DHS explained.
