JAKARTA - Kaspersky's latest cybersecurity company data shows that during 2023, there were 42,700,000 local threats targeting organizations in Southeast Asia.

Although global threats have increased over the past year (coupling individual and business segments), all countries in Southeast Asia, except Singapore, have recorded a negligible decline in the number of localized threats detected.

Singapore recorded an increase in local threats by 67 percent YoY, from 300,000 local incidents in 2022 to 500,000 in 2023.

But overall, the business world in Vietnam (17,100,000), Indonesia (16,400,000), and Thailand (4,700,000) are the countries that experienced the most threats in 2023.

Southeast Asia shows strong potential to become a major manufacturing hub globally. This area is also consistent in recording the steady growth of the digital economy over the years, said Adrian Hia, Managing Director for Asia Pacific in Kaspersky.

To be able to continue this feat, Hia added, organizations, whether operating with the IT system or OT, must build their cyber defenses against sophisticated attacks that use old techniques and tactics.
