JAKARTA - NVIDIA announced a basic model project for humanoid robots, the Project GR00T, which is designed to act as a robot mind in learning skills and completing various tasks.

As part of this initiative, NVIDIA also launched a new computer, Jetson Thor, for humanoid robots based on NVIDIA Thor's system-on-a-chip (SoC), as well as improvements to the NVIDIA robotics platform Isaac.

This SoC includes a generative AI model and basic tool for AI simulation and workflow infrastructure.

Building a basic model for general humanoid robots is one of the most interesting problems to solve in today's AI, said Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA.

According to Huang, these technologies will later support leading robotic experts around the world to be able to make a big leap towards artificial general robotics.

The robot, supported by GR00T, which stands for Generalist Robot 00 Technology, is designed to understand natural languages and imitate movements by observing human actions.

Not only that, but humanoid robots that use this technology will also quickly learn coordination, dexterity, and other skills to navigate, adapt, and interact with the real world.

Modern AI will accelerate development, pave the way for robots like Digit to help humans in all aspects of everyday life, said Jonathan Hurst, co-founder and chief robot officer at Agility Robotics.
