JAKARTA - Deutsche Telekom showcased the futuristic smartphone concept on Monday, February 26, which relies on artificial intelligence rather than applications to deal with users' special needs.

Smartphones today usually use applications for everything from messages and social media to video and banking games.

The German company said the concept, which is exhibited on its "T-phone" device, will have user interfaces without an app developed in collaboration with Qualcomm and Brain partners.

"I can tell you that in the next 5-10 years, none of us will use the app again," said CEO Tim Hoettges at a key presentation at the MWC technology conference at Barcelona.

An example of what the phone can do includes responding to requests and producing recommendations tailored for travel purposes, buying products for its owners, or sending images and videos to contacts, the company said in the presentation.

"The products on display reflect Deutsche Telekom's belief that the large multi- language and crossmodal (LLMs) models will soon become an integral part of the device, improving and simplifying the lives of its customers," added Deutsche Telekom.

Tech and telecommunications companies launching new products and concepts at Barcelona's annual Mobile World Congress (MWC), expect excitement around artificial intelligence to increase business prospects. Many experts say the technology could raise legal and ethical concerns.
