NASA Chooses Five Universities To Join In Aeronautics Research

JAKARTA - The United States Aeronautics and Space Agency (NASA) opened the University Innovation Project for aviation research. This project is opened to develop student innovation.

The state institution has selected five universities to develop innovative research topics. The five universities are the University of California, University of Ohio, University of George Washington, University of Cornell, and University of Washington.

The University Innovation Project Manager, Koushik Datta, said that this research platform was created to provide opportunities for students and teachers. The University's innovation also supports NASA's vision of developing aviation technology.

"Idenya adalah untuk memberikan kesempatan kepada mahasiswa, guru, dan mitra mereka untuk melakukan penelitian, baik fisik maupun digital, yang membantu kami mewujudkan visi kami untuk penerbangan kedelaman ke-21 yang berkelanjutan," kata Datta.

Based on topics that have been determined by NASA, the five university representatives will submit research proposals. After that, the proposal will be chosen by the University Leadership Initiative (ULI) and the University Student Research Challenges (USRC).

ULI and USRC are NASA-driven programs to develop student skills. ULI will choose three teams to award 18 million US dollars (Rp281 billion) over the next three years.

Meanwhile, the USRC will choose a team that will receive a grant from NASA. The team will also face additional challenges, to raise funds from the public through crowdfunding led by students.
