JAKARTA Google has released a Developer Preview 1 or an initial version of Android 15. As the name suggests, this version is made especially for developers as part of testing and development.

Android 15 will include system changes, features, and default applications. This operating system (OS) will get dozens of updates that include reducing battery impacts, improving security, to improving app performance.

The first few updates are focused on the protection of user privacy and security. Google plans to provide Android AD services by combining Privacy Sandbox to improve its effective advertising experience.

Next, Google will add the latest Application Programming Interface (API) that uses the fs-verity feature to protect cryptography signatures. This API will protect devices from potential malware and invalid file modifications.

The next update is deliberately made for content creators. Google will improve light control in the camera preview, adjust the intensity of the flash when taking photos, and expand UMP support to virtual MIDI apps.

In terms of performance and quality, Android 15 will add some new capabilities in the Android Dynamic Performance Framework (ADPF) system, including power efficiency mode, GPU work duration and CPU, as well as thermal head space threshold.

The addition of this new feature is very useful for maximizing the gaming experience and improving performance in applications that require interaction. The ADPF system is also very useful for applications that work in the background.

Finally, Google will add an Open Java Development Kit (OpenJDK) for developers. This API will increase bufferNIO, stream, security, and many more to create the latest programming features.

All of these updates are being rolled out in stages for Developer Preview 1. From April to August, Google will gradually release Android 15 Beta 1 to 4, then release its official version to AOSP.

The first device that will get the Androd 15 update is the Pixel made by Google. However, this update can only be felt in Pixel 6a, Pixel 6 and 6 Pro, Pixel 7a, Pixel 7 and 7 Pro, Pixel Fold, Pixel Tablet, and Pixel 8 and 8 Pro.
