Makes Misinput Data, Sirekap Application System Doesn't Work Well

JAKARTA The General Election Commission (KPU) received a lot of criticism because the Recapitulation Information System (Sirekap) application had an error when inputting data from the C1 form.

In addition, the Sirekap application is also difficult to access so that the Voting Organizing Group (KPPS) cannot upload or scan data. As a result, data transfer is very slow and takes a lot of time.

Many say that the KPU is not ready with the application system so that the converted data does not make sense. For example, the pair Anies Baswedan-Muhaimain Iskandar received 3.5 million votes at one of the Lampung TPS.

Drone Emprit founder, data analysis agency on social media, Ismail Fahmi revealed that the data error in the Sirekap application occurred because one of his systems did not work properly. This system causes KPPS to have difficulty uploading data.

"Sirekap uses Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology to read and convert data from the C1 form. However, many reports show that this OCR technology is not functioning properly," Fahmi said on Friday, February 16.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the CISSREC Cyber Security Research Institute, Pratama Persadha, suspects that the Sirekap application does not have an error checking feature or error checking. In fact, this feature is most needed to produce accurate data.

"If you look at the TPS data, it seems that the data entry system used by the KPU does not have an error checking feature, which should be easy to enter when making a system," said Pratama, quoting from CNN Indonesia.

Pratama explained that the checking feature can avoid intentional or unintentional mistakes. This feature can refuse data input if the number of votes is valid and invalid is not in accordance with the one in the form.

On the other hand, KPU Chairman Hasyim Asy'ari admitted that the Sirekap application had problems. However, Hasyim emphasized that this inappropriate amount of data did not occur due to attempts to manipulate or cheat as alleged by a number of people.

"In Sirekap, there is a system to convert from the photo of the form and then the count number will automatically appear. Well, there is a problem there," said Hasyim some time ago, quoted from CNBC.

Hasyim also said that his party knew about the error in the Sirekap system. The reason is, all data that is not in accordance with the C1 form is still read by the system. With the error that occurred, Hasyim promised to correct the error.

"Therefore, we actually know and of course for those who calculate or convert from which forms to the counting numbers we will correct as soon as possible," explained Hasyim.
