Collaborating With Princeton University, Samsung Will Develop 6G Network

JAKARTA While some countries are still working on 5G networks, Samsung Electronics has taken the lead. The company wants to develop a 6G wireless system or network.

Represented by Samsung Research America (SRA), a research and development organization from Samsung Electronic, the company will develop a 6G network with one of the leading US universities, namely Princeton University.

SRA joins the NextG Initiative Program formed by the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Princeton University. In the program, SRA joins as a founding member to lead research and development of the 6G network.

Dean of the Faculty of Applied Engineering and Sciences Andrea Goldsmith said that this program would promise better wireless networks in the future. The program also strengthens relations between the faculty and industry technology leaders.

Our NextG program aims to drive deep collaborations around wireless technology, as well as policies, needed to drive meaningful innovations and global leadership in a fast era of change, Goldsmith said.

Meanwhile, SRA Senior Vice President Charlie Zhang supports the program that creates the 6G wireless network innovation. This is because the NextG Initiative Program can support studies in the telecommunications sector for future generations.

The wireless industry has benefited significantly from fundamental research in recent decades. We encourage Princeton researchers to continue to innovate and develop disruptive technologies that can lead to major breakthroughs in 6G," said Charlie Zhang.

Princeton University is not only working with Samsung. The NextG Initiative Program also collaborates with other major technology companies such as Ericsson, Intel, MediaTek, Nokia Bell Labs, Qualcomm Technologies, and Vodafone.
