JAKARTA The General Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) realizes that Artificial Intelligence (AI) can interfere with the course of the election. This is because this technology is widely used to spread disinformation.
To prevent the spread of AI-made disinformation, Bawaslu Expert Ronald M. Manoach said that his agency had collaborated with the Ministry of Communication and Information (Kominfo) and the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN).
This collaboration was carried out because Bawaslu did not have a capable tool to deal with AI-generated disinformation content. Therefore, Bawaslu utilizes the infrastructure owned by Kominfo and BSSN.
"We collaborate with various institutions, whether it's Kominfo, but specifically with BSSN because Bawaslu does not have qualified infrastructure and human resources to mitigate or prevent AI products," Ronald said at the "Yuk Pahami Pemilu" event held by Google on Wednesday, January 31.

With this collaboration, Ronald wants to show that Bawaslu is serious in overcoming disinformation issues. In fact, Bawaslu created several special divisions to get rid of strict and detailed AI content.
In addition, Bawaslu is trying to build a new perspective to get rid of all disinformation content created by AI. They think that all AI content threatens before analyzing the content.
We take this as something serious and not kidding. We have a perspective that we all have to be suspicious of first. Don't let us, 'Oh, this is all safe.' So we use that perspective so that we actually collaborate," said Ronald.
