JAKARTA - Peugeot, one of Stellantis' brands, announced its plans to use ChatGPT to improve voice assistants in their cars and vans. This was revealed by the French brand on Tuesday, January 30. The move follows similar steps from competitors such as Volkswagen and Mercedes-Benz who have taken advantage of the popular AI chatbot.

"We will introduce ChatGPT in all cars, including a new e-3008 model, and a small commercial vehicle," Jerome Micheron, director of Peugeot Product Plan, told a news conference.

Peugeot will launch a trial version of the ChatGPT service, which will be able to connect to vehicle control and answer many general questions or related to navigation, on Wednesday January 31 in five countries - France, Britain, Germany, Italy and Spain. The service is planned to become the standard equipment this year.

Last year, Mercedes-Benz started trials in the United States that allowed drivers to use ChatGPT, with the aim of providing a more natural response and addressing questions ranging from details of destinations to dinner advice.

Volkswagen also announced earlier this month that by the middle of the year, their voice assistants will integrate ChatGPT to facilitate interactive dialogue with drivers.

Peugeot also announced that they would introduce an eight-year guarantee for the e-3008 model, compared with current two-year guarantees for their cars, in the hope of encouraging more drivers to switch to electric cars.
