JAKARTA - Kaspersky, a Russian cybersecurity company, issued a public warning about a new malware designed to attack crypto wallets on Apple's computer devices. This malware targets devices that use the 13.6 or later version of the Mac operating system, which is usually used by crypto enthusiasts.

This malware is spread through a pirated application accompanied by an activator application. This activator application serves to patrol pirated applications in order to run on the victim's computer. If not mixed, the pirated application will not work.

After successfully logging into the computer, this malware scans a computer and looks for an installed crypto wallet. This malware then replaces the crypto wallet with a fake version that has been infected, with the aim of stealing access keys and draining the stored cryptocurrencies.

According to Kaspersky, this malware is doing two dangerous ways: first, this malware uses DNS records to send malicious scripts to victims' computers; second, this malware can replace crypto wallet applications with other infected versions. This malware is known to target both Bitcoin Core and Exodus wallets, but it is not yet known whether this malware can also attack other crypto wallets or not.

Sergey Puzan, security researcher at Kaspersky, said that the situation was very serious. MacOS malware associated with pirated software highlights the serious risks. Cybercriminals use pirated apps to easily access users' computers and gain admin rights by asking them to enter passwords."

Puzan also advises users to be very careful in dealing with crypto wallets, and to avoid downloading apps from unofficial sources. In addition, users are also advised to use security software to protect their computers from malware threats.
