JAKARTA The Japanese Geospatial Information Authority (GSI) will use the service of AxelSpace, the operator of the optical satellite constellation, to update and develop Japan's digital base map.
The service that GSI will use is AxelGlobe, a satellite-based Earth observer website and Artificial Intelligence (AI). AxelGlobe is an observational data solution using five GRUS, a micro-sized satellite, which provides an image of medium resolution.
With AxelGlobe's election, AxelSpace said that they would support the initiative optimally by providing the best data from satellite imagery. The device can show the latest status from mainland Japan.
"The National Digital Basic Map is an important database that functions as the foundation of Japanese society and we believe AxelGlobe's election is the result of a high evaluation of its reliability and flexibility," said Director and Head of Business Division AxelGlobe Tatsuhiko Fukasawa.
AxelSpace said that the initiative of the digital national basemap would provide measurements of maps in mainland Japan. The results of this stabbing can be used by the wider community as a navigation system commonly known as the Global Positioning System (GPS).

This serves as basic data for maps used by the public and private sectors, supporting various use cases such as car navigation systems, map apps, and hazard maps, AxelSpace said in an official statement.
In addition to using AxelGlobe, GSI has developed a technology that can extract areas of change from satellite imagery. This technology will take pictures from the same point at different times, then the image will be analyzed by AI.
Meanwhile, specifically for this project, AxelSpace will make a new product called AxelGlobe Mosaik. This product will produce cloudless satellite image data that will collect several images at the same location.
