JAKARTA - QNAP Systems, Inc. recently detected a significant wave of weak password attacks, aimed at internet-exposed Network Attached Storage (NAS) devices.

QNAP Product Security Incident Response Team (QNAP PSIRT) quickly took action by successfully blocking hundreds of IPs of zombie networks through QuFirewall within 7 hours, and was intended to protect many exposed QNAP NAS devices.

Within 48 hours, they also managed to identify a C&C (Command & Control) server source and, in collaboration with cloud service provider Digital Ocean, to prevent the situation from getting worse.
