JAKARTA - Mitsubishi Heavy Industries launched an H-IIA rocket carrying the Japanese government's Optical-8 Information Collection Satellite. This was announced in a post on social media X on Friday, January q2.

This is Japan's 48th launch of Japan's main launch vehicle since 2001, increasing the success rate of the rocket developed by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) to 97.92%.

Japan plans to replace H-IIA after two more launches with H3, but is experiencing difficulties in the transition after the launch of JAXA's first test failed in March last year. The launch of the second H3 test is scheduled for February 15
