JAKARTA - Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie Setiadi expressed his commitment and support for the government's efforts to accelerate digital transformation and the integration of National Digital Services.

This has also been regulated in Presidential Regulation Number 82 of 2023, which states three foundations for digital transformation, namely Digital ID (Digital Population Identity/IKD), digital payment, and data exchange for interoperability of public services.

As the responsibility of the Ministry of Home Affairs and also the Ministry of Communication and Informatics, Budi said that currently, the two Ministries are migrating and carrying out the process of collecting population identity data from electronic ID cards to application-based digital IKDs.

Of the total 280 million NIKs in Indonesia, Budi admitted that currently there are 10 million NIKs that have switched to digital identities.

"We'll see the process later, because it's just the data collection process. Now 10 million have also switched to digital identity. We all have 280 million NIKs, it's transformed to digital so there's no need to bring ID cards anymore, just use cellphones, QRIS and so on," Budi explained, quoted Wednesday, January 10.

Nevertheless, Budi also said that the transfer of ID cards to IKD requires an integration process so that people who receive government programs such as social assistance, public services, health, and education will be more accessible.

"Not all of them (transition of population identity from KTP to IKD), later transformation of the road. Pasti KTP lama sudah pasti secara sendirinya berakhir, pasti game over juga. Hanya menunggu semuanya punya," pungkasnya.
