JAKARTA Google continues to improve its performance from YouTube TV to attract more subscribers. This effort was successful because YouTube TV became Google's fastest growing product.

The latest data from Leitchman Research Group (LRG), a research and consulting company, shows that YouTube TV has reached 6.5 million subscribers. This figure was achieved by Google in the third quarter of 2023.

Overall, the paid TV provider market is being hit by losses, both leading cable TV providers and traditional paid TV. However, the virtual streaming service Multichannel Video Programming Distributor (vMVPD) remains in the midst of the loss.

YouTube TV subscribers managed to increase by 600,000 from the previous quarter, making YouTube TV the vMVPD service with the highest number of net additions in the third quarter of 2023.

In addition to YouTube TV, other vMVPD services that were able to survive losses were Hulu, Sling TV, and Fubo. Upstream managed to reach 300,000 subscribers, Sling TV managed to reach 117,000 subscribers, and Fubo managed to reach 310,000 customers.

Of the four vMVPD services, YouTube TV is the only platform with more than 5 million subscribers. In fact, streaming service is only available in the United States, in contrast to other vMVPD services available in more than one country.

Currently, YouTube TV has more than 100 broadcast channels, cables, regional sports, to films and events based on customer demand. Google also added additional premium networks for sporting events such as the NBA.
