Apex Opens New Factory In Los Angeles To Increase Satellite Production

JAKARTA Apex, the main component manufacturer of the satellite, will open a new factory next year. Reportedly, the factory they are opening will be used to produce more satellites.

Quoted fromSpacenews, Apex has signed a lease agreement for one of the buildings in the Playa Vista area, Los Angeles. The building with an area of almost 4,300 square meters is referred to as Factory One by Apex.

Apex Chief Executive Ian Cinnamon said that the factory will start operating in the third quarter of next year. Cinnamon added that the factory is capable of producing up to 50 satellites per year.

"As we continue to improve design and manufacturing principles, we think in the end, we can get more spacecraft from the same facility," Cinnamon said.

The building, which will be used as Factory One, has been leased for a 10-year life period. Not only being a factory, this building will be used as the company's head office. Apex also plans to open additional facilities.

For information, Apex managed to rent a building using Series A round funds worth US$16 million or around Rp. 247 billion. All of the funds were collected by Apex in the middle of this year.

Initially, Apex did target a fundraising of up to Rp247 billion. However, the company was able to exceed the target as they had raised US$27 (Rp416 billion) in funds, starting from the initial round.
