JAKARTA The International Moon Research Station (ILRS) has again received support. This time, the program initiated by China and developed with Russia was supported by Egypt.

On Wednesday, December 6, the Chief Operational Officer of the Egyptian Space Agency (EGSA) Sedky signed a cooperation agreement with the Administrator of the Chinese National Space Agency (CNSA) Zhang Kejarian.

In addition to cooperation between agencies, each country fills out a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish an intergovernmental agreement. This MoU is used to maximize the achievement of space peacefully.

From this collaboration, Egypt will benefit from ILRS such as lunar and space exploration, aircraft development and launch, space infrastructure, satellite data receipts, astronomical observations, and much more.

The joining of Egypt in the ILRS program was welcomed by CNSA. Egypt is the first Arab country to support ILRS so that CNSA believes that they can get more support in the future.

ILRS is a permanent base construction mission on the Moon. ILRS will begin construction in the 2030s, rivaling the Artemis program belonging to the United States Aeronautics and Space Agency (NASA).

So far, ILRS has been supported by 13 parties consisting of governments, space agencies, and academics in various countries. Of the total, only seven state governments directly support the ILRS program.
