CORIKA Targets Revision Of Artificial Intelligence Stranas Can Be Completed Before Election

JAKARTA - As an effort towards Indonesia Gold 2045, the government through the National Innovation Research Agency (BRIN) and the Collaboration of the Artificial Intelligence Industry (KORIKA) is making a National Strategy (Stranas) for Artificial Intelligence, in order to strengthen national competitiveness.

"In this effort, the Coordinating Ministry for Economics is currently preparing a national strategy for the 2030 digital economy. Meanwhile, we believe that we have developed an artificial intelligence national strategy and produced it in 2020," said KORIKA Chairman Hammam Riza at a press conference for the Indonesian Language Model Large Language (LLM) Development Cooperation between GLAIR.ai, Datasaur.ai, BRIN, KORIKA, and AISG, on Thursday, November 30 in Jakarta.

Nevertheless, Hammam said that CORIKA received a mandate from the Ministry of Communication and Information to immediately revise the draft of Artificial Intelligence Stranas, due to the development of AI Generative.

"Oh yes, because it will become a Presidential Decree, it will be made for the 2020-2024 period. Only at that time has not captured the development of the last 2 years with the development of the AI generative," said Deputy Minister of Communication and Information Nezar Patria at the same time.

According to Nezar, this revision or update needs to be done, seeing the rapid development of AI, and also causing various problems, ranging from bias, hallucinations, and discrimination.

"Well, with an update, maybe it will be more comprehensive. Now this is done by friends in CORIKA," he said.

Meanwhile, Hammam stated that CORIKA itself targets the revision of the AI Stranas to be completed before the 2024 General Election (Pemilu) takes place. So that it can be implemented immediately in 2024.

"I hope that the target is no later than the election, we already have Stranas. So that Stranas can be used, for its implementation in 2024, immediately. If not, we will be late again. Later, the GPT will be released, "he said, AGI (Artificial General Intelligence), because of the drama at Sam Altman," explained Hammam.
