Update: The Ministry Of Communication And Informatics Has Blocked 425,506 Online Gambling Content

JAKARTA - During several months of leadership of Budi Arie Setiadi as Minister of Communication and Information, from July 18 to October 18, Kominfo has succeeded in executing access termination of 425,506 gambling content.

Where, 237,096 of the content comes from the internet protocol address site (IP address), 17,235 content from file sharing, and 171,175 other content from social media.

"I have also asked internet service providers (ISPs) and cellular operators to continue to improve efforts to eradicate online gambling, by ensuring the accuracy of synchronizing their systems in website databases containing gambling content and by immediately following up on requests for termination of access that we convey," Budi said at a press conference at the Kominfo office on Friday, October 20.

In addition, Kominfo has asked OJK to block 2,760 accounts from July 17, 2023, to October 16, 2023, we have also requested that BI increase efforts to prevent online gambling activities.

Budi promised to continue to eradicate online gambling firmly and seriously. In fact, Budi admitted, the Ministry of Communication and Informatics has deployed artificial intelligence (AI) technology to monitor online gambling sites.

"The AI can monitor the site, identify it, it will be scrolled all the gambling sites, blocked. So it's not manual, we're not looking for one by one," Budi explained to the media.

"However, any serious effort made by the Ministry of Communication and Information certainly has not been able to eradicate online gambling completely. For this reason, we always support the firmness of the Police in arresting perpetrators, dealers, influencers, or other parties who facilitate online gambling activities," he concluded.
