Mikio Kurita from Kyoto University revealed the specifications of the Seimei and Timau telescopes.

Kurita said this telescope instrument consists of OPTICA and NIRCA. The twin telescopes Seimei and Timau share the same specifications using a mirror of 3.8 m and use 2 wide field of view cameras, namely NIRCA with near infrared filters and OPTICA with three infrared filters.

Kurita, who was involved in the Seimei project, developed two wide field-of-view cameras NIRCA and OPTICA which will also be installed on BRIN's telescope at the Observatory in Timau.

He conveyed that the potential observation targets that are important for the Timau telescope are objects at the South Pole of the Galaxy, related to exoplanets (exoplanets) and star formation.

"In addition, for the observation of transient objects, namely objects whose lights suddenly increase, such as novas and supernovae. The advantage of the Seimei and Timau telescopes is that they can move quickly so that they are very suitable for observations of supernovae, stellar flares, and other transient objects," he said at the Kolokium Weekly Space Research (LINEAR), on Wednesday, August 23, 2023.

In addition, BRIN telescopes in Timau can also be used to observe star-doubly froglistic and stellar flares, similar to flares in the sun and observe the sky of the northern and southern hemispheres, as well as equatorial areas.
