JAKARTA - Zoom's video conferencing app has completely canceled its new policy of using customer data.

Previously, Zoom updated its service requirements that gave them unlimited ability to use customer data to train Artificial Intelligence (AI) models with their consent.

But because notification or asking for approval is only when customers join online meetings, some of them consider Zoom's way of being very cunning, to take AI data into situations where people don't have much choice.

With the flood of customer refusals, the company insists it will not use any of their data to train the AI model from Zoom or third parties.

Following the feedback received regarding the recently updated Zoom service requirements, particularly regarding our new generative Artificial Intelligence feature, Zoom has updated our service requirements and made it clear that Zoom is not using audio, video, chat, screen sharing, and attachments," Zoom said in its official announcement, quoted from Engadget, Saturday, August 12.

"Or other communications such as customer content (such as polls, whiteboards, and reactions) to train Zoom artificial intelligence models or third parties," he added.

Zoom said it would continue to be transparent and provide the users with the tools they need to make the right decisions about Zoom accounts.

"We value your privacy and continue to work to improve our services while respecting your rights and preferences," Zoom said.
