YOGYAKARTA WhatsApp continues to develop new features to pamper consumers in communicating. Most recently, the company that is part of Meta is developing the Voice Chat WhatsApp feature.

WhatsApp's Voice Chat feature has a difference with the voice call feature that WhatsApp users can now enjoy. Then, what's different from the two?

The new Voice Chat Whatsapp feature was discovered by WABetaInfo on WhatsApp beta which is intended for Android phones version 2.23.16.19. Currently, the feature is only available for selected beta testers and will most likely be released globally. Thus, all WhatsApp users will be able to take advantage of this new feature.

In general, voice chat is a new WhatsApp feature that allows some people in one group to have conversations in real time. For now, in one voice chat session, a maximum of 32 group members can participate.

Some lucky WhatsApp beta tester users have tried this feature. The icon will be shaped like a sound wave located in the upper right corner of the WhatsApp group. To bring up this icon, users must activate it first and be sure it is also compatible with the group.

Users must tap on the gelobang icon. After that voice chat can start. As mentioned earlier, group members who can join a maximum of 32 people, can all have conversations at any time without having to pause.

Voice chat will also automatically die after members who join the left or leave conversations after 60 minutes have passed. What is clear, anyone can immediately start a voice chat, as quoted from WABetaInfo.

In WABetaInfo, it is stated that this new WhatsApp feature can only be used in certain groups, with more than 32 members. However, only 32 people can join the voice chat.

Then what is the difference between voice chat and voice call?

Although both are audio-based, voice chats are different from voice calls. When the voice chat session takes place, the phone doesn't ring but only displays notifications. Unlike voice calls that will make the phone ring.

Regarding its safety, voice chats will also be protected by end-to-end encryption, so that other people outside participants cannot join or hear conversations. That way the privacy that is discussed in voice chat is maintained.

Voice chats are also different from voice notes because content is not stored in chats or in galleries, so it cannot be re-enabled by all group participants.

One of the advantages of the voice chat feature is that group participants can be involved in a chat without having to tow the phones of other participants.
