Reddit announced that it is conducting a trial of a verification label for a small number of organizations that already have cooperation with their companies.

"Starting today, we are starting initial testing to place visual indicators on specific profiles to provide proof of authenticity, reduce identity impersonation, and increase transparency across platforms," Reddit wrote in its announcement.

So, the reditors will later have an Official label that appears next to their username, similar to how Flair appears in the subreddit.

According to the company, the label is designed to help users quickly identify specific organizations, and allow other users to believe that these users are genuine.

The label is also a visual indicator of the verified profile. Reddit insists that this label will not grant any special privileges or protection to its owner.

"This new "Resmi" label should not be misinterpreted as the existing "Promotional" label, which remains our (only) indicator for paid advertising (that is postings that have been paid by advertisers)," the company added.

Currently, Reddit is also actively working with a group of people to get feedback on its latest verification label.

"Because this is the initial test, the learning we have obtained will inform you of the next steps for this launch. We will continue to inform you," concluded Reddit.
