JAKARTA - Motorola officially announced its newest smartphone, the Edge S. The Motorola Edge S is the first smartphone to use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 chipset.

The successor to the foldable Motorola Razr will have outstanding performance, including a large battery capacity and six cameras. Prices start from 1,999 Yuan (IDR 4.4 million).

Don't be fooled by the name, the Motorola Edge S doesn't have a curved display. The screen is flat and is home to dual holes for the two front-facing cameras.

However, the back of the phone is curved in design and there is home to four cameras. This phone has an NVCM coating and is available in two colors namely Emerald Glaze and Emerald Light.

The Motorola Edge S has a 6.7-inch LCD screen with a 90Hz refresh rate and a 21: 9 aspect ratio. The screen resolution is 2,520 x 1,080 pixels and has a screen density of 409 ppi, HDR10, and a DCI-P3 color gamut.

The Snapdragon 870 processor delivers increased performance over its predecessor. Its CPU performance is said to be 12% higher than Snapdragon 865 while GPU performance has increased by 10%.

In testing using the AnTuTu Benchmark, the Edge S scored higher than the Mi 10. Its overall score on the benchmarking platform was 680,826 points while the Mi 10 was 585,232 points.

The high scores are not only due to the new processor but also as a result of Turbo LPDDR5 RAM which is 72% faster than LPDDR4 and also UFS 3.1 storage which is 25% faster than UFS 3.0.

The four cameras on the back of the phone include a 64MP camera, a 16MP 121 ° ultra-wide angle camera which also doubles as a 2.8CM macro camera, a 2MP depth camera, and a TOF camera which has a ring of light around it. The dual selfie camera is a 16MP sensor and an 8MP 100 ° ultra-wide angle camera.

The camera packs a number of features including a vlog mode, night mode, and can record in 6K video at 30 fps and in 4K at 60 fps.

The phone also has Audio Zoom so you can get closer to the sound source while recording as you zoom in with the camera to get closer to your subject.

Motorola Edge S doesn't come with ZUI but a new user interface called MY UI which is based on Android 11. Motorola says it is lighter and more efficient. He has his own assistant which is called the motto AI.

Some of the features it has included a desktop mode, object recognition, and a split-screen feature which can be activated easily by swiping the side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

The Motorola Edge S has an audio jack and a USB Type-C port capable of charging a 5,000mAh battery at 20W. The device also has an IP52 rating, dual SIM support, Bluetooth 5.1, and dual-frequency GPS.

- 8GB RAM and 128GB ROM = 2,399 Yuan (IDR 5.2 million)
