JAKARTA - Google Meet is reportedly working on an experimental feature dubbed On-the-Go. Designed to make video calls more secure and easy as they go.

On-the-Go mode will change the User Interface (UI) of the Meet app on Android to be simpler, which is more suitable to travel outside while receiving video or meeting calls. The layout will also be much more intuitive.

When a user travels, this mode will use a mobile motion sensor. Then, Google Meet will ask users to activate On-the-Go mode.

When this mode is activated, the camera in the call will be disabled, as well as on video streaming from other participants. Profile photos will also be placed at the top.

Several large buttons are also present so that users can easily press them, such as Mute, Audio and Raise their hands. This mode is quite useful for saving cellular data and the life life of the user's cellphone battery.

The new mode will also be available as a manual option, so users can choose to enable or disable it depending on their condition.

For example, if users are walking in a busy area or worrying about safety, they can choose to turn off the camera.

This option can be accessed by tapping the three-dot menu during the call, which is next to the Activity button.

Unfortunately, this feature is still in the work stage and it is unclear when or if Google will make it publicly available, as quoted from Android Central, Tuesday, June 13.
